Bring a personal-combat plan

Troop totals are not the HP bar for these fights. Review the individual HP, Level, moves and available solo skills. The official legacy support FAQ also confirms that a commander's dungeon skills can differ from their army skills.

Do not carry an army result-bar strategy into a dungeon. Here the relevant question is whether your characters can defeat the enemies while keeping enough usable actions and health for the remaining floors.

Swap before everyone is exhausted

The mechanics reference allows a commander to replace another participant; a unit cannot retreat itself out. Replacements are normally chosen randomly from eligible roster members, while Sill is the first back-position replacement in the documented system.

The next floor is harderInspect what remains of the roster and consider exiting.

Characters knocked out in the dungeon can become unavailable for the rest of the turn. Remember that you may still need to defend the map afterward.

Leaving does not preserve every cleared floor

The dungeon reference describes a specific rule: if you clear at least one floor and exit voluntarily, the next entry begins one floor deeper than your previous entry point. It does not necessarily begin just below the deepest floor you reached. Clearing the final floor changes repeat entries to that final floor.

Plan short visits with that rule in mind rather than treating a long crawl as a permanent checkpoint at every cleared floor. Different scripted boss encounters may also handle restoration differently.

Review rewards and risk before the last floor

Ordinary dungeon clears can grant a one-time roster level bonus. Special dungeons are exceptions, so check the dungeon's entry before spending a campaign action on it. Orochi's Pit is especially important because its boss has a direct Game Over risk.

For reward and farming trade-offs, continue with dungeon exploration and items.
