Version scope: these detailed mechanics and route prerequisites come from classic-game community documentation. Story-route pages contain spoilers. Compare your edition before a route-sensitive choice.

Discovery and battle are separate steps
The green Search For Dungeon command finds an available dungeon; the red battle command begins a crawl. A missing search option may reflect a character or story prerequisite rather than insufficient Search on your current units.
The community dungeon list gives location, prerequisite, floor count and reward information for each entry. Check those fields before following a route that removes a required character.
Use the clear reward at the right time
For ordinary dungeons, the reference describes a one-time level increase for commanders currently in your roster when the final floor is cleared. A future recruit does not retroactively receive that completed bonus.
| Decision | Useful check |
|---|---|
| Clear now | Does the present roster need the reward to pass an upcoming fight? |
| Wait for a recruit | Is the delayed level bonus worth leaving the dungeon unfinished? |
| Re-enter a cleared dungeon | Are you seeking repeat loot rather than another first-clear bonus? |
| Follow a story dungeon | Does this entry have an exception to ordinary clear rewards? |
Waiting can support a later roster, but an immediate level increase can be worth more if it prevents a stalled campaign. Treat this as a planning choice, not a rule to delay every dungeon.
Do not reroll the same fixed reward forever
The reference says normal final treasures are selected from a dungeon-specific pool at the start of the game. Reloading the save immediately before the last fight does not simply create a new campaign's drop selection.
Floor rewards and exit rewards follow separate rules. Oni Bones support the item shop, while repeated farming uses actions and can delay conquest or events. Inspect the actual reward you want before committing several turns to a farming loop.
Keep a safe exit plan
Review HP and moves between floors, then decide whether a voluntary exit is sensible. Know how the next entry point changes; clearing many floors in one visit does not establish a checkpoint after each one.
See dungeon battle rules for the retreat system and Imperial equipment for rewards with permanent-equipment implications.
