Choose a reason to replay

The official store describes new branches and carry-over options after completing the game. Our recommendation is to pick one purpose for the next run: explore a story branch, improve your strategy, or investigate a particular character. Combining all three before you understand the conditions can make the plan harder to follow.

Keep route labels straight

The legacy StrategyWiki directory lists the True, Uesugi Kenshin, Nanjo Ran and Yamamoto Isoroku routes (the directory spells the latter “Yamamato”), plus other routes. The spelling in older references can differ. Treat a route name as the start of your research rather than a complete unlock instruction.

Your next-run goalPrepare before starting
A different storylineA version-matched source for entry requirements and deadlines.
A stronger openingA short list of bonuses that support the intended plan.
A particular commanderRecruitment conditions and a checkpoint save strategy.
A better scoreAn explicit distinction between required progress and optional scoring tasks.

Understand the legacy bonus advice

The 2012 FAQ says repeat-game bonus spending is based on the best score achieved in an earlier single campaign; spending bonuses does not lower that carried-over maximum. This is an attributed legacy explanation, not a Steam score-system test.

Use the bonus screen you actually see as the final check. Before confirming a new game, compare your planned choices with the route guide's assumptions. If its opening depends on a bonus you cannot select, find a different opening instead of copying instructions that do not match your save.

Avoid a universal route recipe

A route walkthrough should tell you which prerequisites must be satisfied and when. A general list of route names cannot do that. We have not verified all IF-route entry conditions for Steam, so this overview does not publish an unsupported unlock recipe.

When comparing two guides, note the edition, the playthrough type, required characters and the described story state. If those differ, resolve the difference before committing the campaign to the branch.

Make the next run easier to inspect

Keep a note of your starting choices, the goal you selected and the save before each branch decision. That way, when an event is missing, you can investigate a specific condition rather than replaying blindly.

Read the legacy FAQ for bonus context, the version guide for source limits, and recruitment checks when a required commander is unavailable.
