Gain SAT, then choose the reward that solves a problem

Satisfaction, often shortened to SAT, opens Rance’s bonus choices in the documented classic game. It is separate from gold, National Power and the end-of-game score. Bonuses become available at multiples of ten; additional options have their own character, route and SAT prerequisites.

This page covers earning opportunities and reward decisions. For the exact extra-fan thresholds, use the Action Fans guide. It is not a fixed “best farming” schedule, and adult story events are described only by their campaign function here.

Where Satisfaction can come from

OpportunityWhat the classic documentation supportsWhat to check
Province conquestSome conquest events give SATA surrendered province need not reproduce its conquest reward.
Named character eventsIndividual event chains can add SATCharacter, relationship, item and route conditions are specific.
Dungeon-linked eventsA dungeon visit can unlock a later character eventWinning a floor and selecting the follow-up event are different actions.
Repeatable estate visitThe documented Owari estate event can give 1 SAT once unlockedThis spends time/actions; it is not an unlimited free resource.
Optional dungeon outcomeKachi-Kachi Cave’s first clear is documented as 1 SATIts separate side quest is not the same reward or prerequisite.

For specific examples, the source lists 5 SAT for Ashikaga’s conquest, 5 for Uesugi’s conquest and 3 for Akashi’s conquest. These are classic event outcomes, not universal points awarded by every occupied province or every victory. When following a Steam campaign, confirm the result shown by that event.

Open the menu without confusing eligibility and cost

The documented Satisfaction command appears in an owned province when its bonus opportunity is available. You need an unused map fan to open the selection, but exiting the list without choosing a reward does not spend that fan. Inspecting the menu is different from committing to a bonus.

Do not assume a named reward appears at every ten-point opportunity. Extra actions, foreign reinforcements and character upgrades have separate conditions. The foreign queue is especially sensitive to a previous request that has not been accepted.

Choose by the current bottleneck

Current problemReward family to inspectTrade-off/check
Too few map actionsMore Actions Per TurnStarts next turn; requires the relevant SAT threshold, Sill and fan state.
Your army is damagedFull Heal All ForcesRestores existing troop strength; does not add a permanent map fan.
A desired troop increase is cappedTroop Limit +100Raises the ceiling; it is different from adding current soldiers.

You need a named foreign commanderSummon Forces From Foreign NationsRequest plus wait/reception; it is not an immediate recruit.
Hostile clan forces are too largeLower Strength of Enemy FactionsApplies to clans currently at war; does not weaken scripted enemies universally.

For an early stable campaign, a lasting extra action can be valuable because it improves later turns. An urgent defense or required event can still justify a different reward. This is editorial prioritization, not a rule that taking anything before an extra fan ruins the campaign.

Why an eligible option is not visible

The classic menu can show at most twelve eligible bonuses, ordered by priority. A lower-priority option can be hidden even when you meet its conditions.

Diagnose in this order:

  1. Check the exact character, route, SAT and current fan requirement.
  2. Check whether you already took its one-time version.
  3. For a foreign request, check the outstanding queue.
  4. Count competing eligible bonuses and inspect their priority.
  5. If choosing a useful one-time reward would free a slot, consider it; do not buy unrelated rewards solely to follow an old reload recipe.

The next extra-fan versions require 160 SAT with three maximum fans and 260 SAT with four maximum fans in the community reference. Current unused fans are not your maximum count, and an initial Second Game fan changes which bonus remains available.

Route progression can remove an opportunity

Sill is required for important rewards such as extra fans and new foreign requests. True Route story progression can make her unavailable, so check route checkpoints when planning those choices.

The frozen-Sill section can also produce recurring SAT loss. The community walkthrough connects stopping that loss to the two relevant purple Sill events and the subsequent Kouhime event. More generic estate visits do not replace the required story chain.

SAT is not your clear score

The campaign’s score/points and the bonuses selected before a Second Game form a different system. A SAT reward can improve the current campaign without directly being an equal number of ending points. Use the New Game Plus overview before planning a run around carry-over purchases.
